Lighting for your home

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

After repainting the rooms and the dining area, I was planning to chance some of the house light fixtures to be sure that the house will totally look different this coming summer. Some of my house was renovated and there are rooms that was repainted and adding some light fixtures can make me feel that the house was totally different from before. I wanted the house to look new and different so that when the relatives pay a visit on my house this summer they can be able to find that it was something new.

I did search and purchased the chandeliers and the bathroom light fixtures that I added on a sites on the internet. Sites where I can be able to browse and find many different kind of ceiling light fixtures. What good about the shop is they added images of the products that they are offering and that made my choosing simple and fast. That with the images that I saw on their site I did pick which one of them is the right one to add on each room and on the bathroom. Good thing to know that there are sites that do offer the lighting that I needed. I don’t need to went out to buy one.

Why Choose a Skylight for Your Home?

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Whether you are building a new home, or looking to do some renovation to your current home, skylights are an excellent addition. Your rooms will be filled with natural light. Besides being less costly, natural light has also been scientifically proven to make people feel better. Adding a skylight to a room will add value to your home as well.

You have many different options when it comes to skylights as nearly every room in your home would benefit to have one. Take the kitchen for example, while it is not usually a room that you would think to have skylights installed, doing so is an excellent idea. Without natural light and breeze, they can become stuffy and airless making them prone to odors and humid air. There are actually skylights available that have vents and can release stale air from your kitchen with the press of a button. Just about every room in your home could have a skylight including attics, closets, bedrooms, living rooms, and even bathrooms.

There are many features available nowadays for skylights that were not available in the past. Many people may avoid them because they had some in the past that they were unhappy with, or they heard the horrow stories of leaking skylights. Leakproof flashings have changed all that as they will prevent any rain from getting in. Also available are comfort glazings, shades, and other convenience controls.

There are many reasons why getting a skylight installed will benefit you. First of all, it will add to the value of your home. Bright, natural light also helps keep our internal clocks in order. If you have trouble staying awake in the daytime, or going to sleep at night, skylights might do wonders for you. They are also great for keeping you in high spirits. If you suffer from SAD, or seasonal affective disorder, then a skylight may help you to stay happy during the winter.

If you are thinking of getting skylights installed in your home, take a look at a few examples first. Look at homes that already have them installed and get some ideas. Many of your neighbors may already have them though you may not have noticed them before. Today’s skylights are made with a much smaller profile, no longer a “bubble” eyesore protruding from your roof. Because of this they are less noticeably but infinitely more appealing then their much larger predecessors.

Add some skylights to your home, you have nothing to loose but the darkness!

Small but even better

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

The time that I did found a site on the internet that offer the Small Bathroom Remodeling that gives me an idea to have some remodeling on the house. I really don’t have an idea on remodeling and the cost of the service. But when I saw their site and saw their works and read how they convince their customer. That start to give me an idea to have some part of the house to be renovated.
Then finally I saw their quotes that give me an idea for some fixture and their offer service. The best thing is that on the quotes you can have the idea if how their services works and of course the budget for the service. That give more reason to have their service and finally check if which among the part of the house need to be repair, repaint and remodel. With the use of their site I can now do make over with my house. This coming summer my house will be having it’s new looks and new features. There will be changes from the kitchen, bathroom and the color of the roof and the walls inside and out. I already had set budget for the remodeling and I have check on their quotes if I can be able to do the changes with my money on hand.

Control Your Time while doing the household

Monday, December 8th, 2008

You’ve gotten your house nicely organized and you’ve developed habits to keep it that way. Good for you! One more thing is necessary for an organized life—learning to control how you use your time. It’s not hard, once you know how. Organized people understand the two secrets that make it easy and guarantee success. They focus on priorities and divvy up their time wisely to reach them. That means, you simply must:
• Say no to less-important, C-list priorities. We have so many opportunities and so many demands on our time in today’s busy world. That makes it important to practice saying no to the requests of other people and often to our own desires as well. We don’t have the time or the energy to do everything. That means we have to ignore what we may call our C list, in favor of giving our attention to what’s essential.
• Shout a resounding yes to a few, well- selected activities in your life—your A- list priorities. When the yes areas are determined, you can say no more easily to other areas, many of which may be excellent activities, but just are not right for you at this time.

Groom the Garage

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

A two-car garage covers about five hundred square feet of floor space. That’s about the size of a small apartment! Two parked cars take up half the space in the garage, when you include room for the car doors to open. This leaves a significant amount of room for storage, and (drum roll, please!) it’s the best kind because most is along the walls. To make the most of it. Designate zones, as in other rooms. You may have a building zone for storage of hammers, drills, wrenches, and the like. The garden/lawn zone would include tools hung from hooks on the wall. Sports equipment often fits nicely in a wheeled trash can—labeled, of course—in the sports zone. If you use the garage for general storage for things like games, dog food, decorations, and more, create zones for each category and post signs labeling each zone. That will nudge you—and other family members—to take that extra step and put things away properly after use. Hint: Arrange zones so that items used frequently are near the garage door you use most. Measure spaces carefully before buying storage containers. Keep things off the floor. You can hang things for pennies if you hammer large nails into studs around the walls. Peg Boards keep smaller items neat. Putting things away is a snap if you trace around them, leaving an outline that shows where they should be returned after use. Anything that can’t hang should be in labeled containers, stored neatly on shelves. Lightweight items can go on high shelves; heavy items should stay low. If you can afford them, cabinets with doors create a neater overall look. Put rafters to work. Exposed rafters can hold a multitude of items. Slide skis and ski poles, long and thin sports equipment, even long gardening tools onto a ladder hung horizontally from the ceiling, above your head but within reach. Suspend large tools and sports equipment—especially bicycles—from hooks screwed into the rafters.  Make it shine. As you organize, give the garage a good cleaning, discarding things you haven’t used in years. It doesn’t have to be spotless. But the neater it is, the more likely you’ll be to keep it that way. Hint: Make oil stains fade by using your foot to grind unused kitty litter into the greasy spot. After a few hours, sweep up the litter with the oil it has absorbed. Prevent future stains by taping a piece of cardboard over the spot where you normally park. When you want to spruce up, simply change the cardboard for a new piece.

Share the Work at home—Dele-great!

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Create more time for the tasks that really matter by becoming a “greater delegator.”

To help you in your effort to reassign some of your tasks to others, ask yourself these questions:
• Am I doing jobs that would be more appropriate for others to do?
• Am I still treating my older children as though they are small and need me to do everything
for them? (This isn’t fair to you or to them.)
• Do I fail to hire outside help because I think I should do it all?
• Am I doing it all to prove I’m needed?
• Do I hate to impose on others?
• Am I not sure how to go about delegating to others?
• Do I feel it’s easier to do it myself, rather than supervise others?
• Am I neglecting to train my younger children to be independent and helpful?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, it’s time to start asking others to share the load. You may be surprised how happily others go along with the new division of labor. Start today! You’ll be glad you did.
